Project Summary

Melco Engineering were engaged by BMA to undertake the supply, manufacture and installation of the 4S Conveyor at the Saraji Coal Mine Site.

The replacement of the 4S conveyor was executed to minimise the cost effects being incurred through consistent maintenance required due to the excessive age of the current asset. In conjunction with the 4S Conveyor replacement, structural works of the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) were undertaken to accommodate the improved design of the replacement conveyor.

Melco project managers worked closely with the client to monitor and report on project process in respect of key deliverables and execute effective management of emergent works. Further, extensive project management was a key component in completing the site installation portion of the scope within the 10-day shutdown period.

Melco complied with a number of standards throughout the project inclusive of but not limited to AS1554.1 SP, AS4100 and various surface treatment standards.

The Melco scope included fabrication, assembly, transport and site installation of the newly designed 4S Conveyor encompassing 15,000 labour hours over a 6-month period.
