Project Summary

Melco Engineering were engaged by the Thiess / Sedgman Joint Venture to undertake the supply, manufacture and installation of a Run of Mine (ROM) Bin Dump Station at the Lake Vermont Coal Mine.

The ROM Dump Station was inclusive of a dump hopper, wingwalls, bin walkways, grizzly, level detector bracket, feeder discharge chutes, feeder breaker, power pack, dust suppression system and support structure inclusive of grating and handrailing. Works completed throughout execution included plate, piping, structural and mechanical installations.

Melco project managers worked closely with the client to monitor and report on project progress in respect of key deliverables and execute effective management of emergent works.

Various standards complied with throughout the execution included but was not limited to AS1554.1, AS4100 and various surface treatment standards.

The Melco scope included supply of materials, fabrication and welding, testing and inspection, pre-assembly, transport and site installation of the newly designed ROM Dump Station, encompassing 9,000 labour hours.
