Project Summary

Melco Engineering were engaged by Howden to undertake the supply and delivery of a modularised fan static system for the Oaky North Coal Mine.

The overall module consisted of two (2) centrifugal fan casings, drive-train assembly, motor, gear box, bearing plate, inlet and discharge ducting, vent rapid door seal assembly, relief rapid seal door assembly and winching arrangements.

The purpose of the static fan solution is to facilitate the extraction of chemical fumes and dust from the longwall underground operations at the Oaky Creek North Mine.

Melco complied with a number of standards throughout the project execution inclusive of but not limited to AS 1554.1 GP, AS1554.1 SP and also various surface treatment standards.

The Melco scope included fabrication, trial assembly, surface treatment, assembly and transport and encompassed 7,000 labour hours over the course of a five (5) month duration.
